Finley Jazz Ensemble
This select group of 7th and 8th grade musicians have an opportunity to learn about and enjoy a truly unique and American art form. These students will perform in a variety of jazz styles, including Blues, Swing, Latin and Rock music. They will discover the concepts of improvisation - a key part of jazz which can be thought of as "spontaneous composition," and incorporate this in their solos.
Jazz Ensemble meets on Wednesday mornings from 7 to 7:50 am. Auditions take place in mid October, and rehearsals begin on Wednesday, October 31. Instrument types encouraged to audition: Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone/Baritone, Piano/Keyboard, Guitar, Bass, and Drum Set.
